Hey! Last week I made something that people used to make in the 1700s (probably Ben Franklin made them). Crystal candy. After a week of waiting, today I finally pulled the skewers out of their jar, this is what they looked  like:

Cool right? It’s actually not so complicated. It’s just sugar and water. And now I’ve no idea what to do with the remaining goop XD. Any ideas? If you do, please comment them :).

I think i will post this on Facebook. If you want to know how to make them- here’s how:

First, put 3/4 cup of water and 2 cups of sugar in a pan and stir until it becomes a weird thick sweet goop. Then pour it into a glass jar and let it cool. Meanwhile make another mixture of 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 tablespoon of water. let it melt, pour it over two wooden skewers, and sprinkle them with sugar ( these are like seeds for the crystals). (You can put food coloring at this stage.) Then, once the first goop cools, open two small holes in the top of the lid, and fit the skewers through. Tape or rubber band them so they don’t touch each other, the bottom, or the sides of the jar. Then let it sit for a week at least and voila! Crystal candy!
