TOME
On October 12th, 2009, a giant space dome fell on a town called Chester’s Mill, Maine. No one knows what it was, except those who read the book. Well of COURSE no dome fell. It fell in a book, by Steven King. Chester’s Mill DOES EXIST though. Well I have no idea what the dome is, since I haven’t finished the book yet. But I am reading it. In fact i have read about 430 pages in this last 1.5 months. Yeah, I fly through books fast. I don’t think this book is really for kids. Ok, its NOT for kids, and I have to say there’s quite a bit I don't get. I don’t suggest people looking for an easy read should get this book. It’s the size of a bible, a big one.
The main character, Barbie, is a helpful Iraq vet who now works as a cook at a diner. His full name is Dale Barbara. In the book there isn’t a single main character; there are many, which makes the story hard to follow. So far, Barbie has been framed, arrested, blackmailed, and run out of his apartment. He is currently in prison for four murders (he was framed by the murderer) and is going to be bailed out. Meanwhile, a plane has crashed onto the dome, and Visitor’s Day has been proclaimed on Fridays. Colonel Cox, a soldier in charge of ‘the dome operation’ (an attempt to destroy the dome) has tried to get Rennie, the person in charge, to step down, and to get Barbie, who the president asked to take control, to take control.
Meanwhile, a group of three kids, Norrie, Benny, and Joe, find themselves in possession of a Geiger counter, and find what they think is generating the dome. They call on Julia, a reporter, and a friend called Rusty, to try to destroy the generator. They find the generator extremely hard to destroy and decide to hide it, because since Rennie is enjoying power so much, he might organize a patrol around the generator to keep the dome in place. So they must keep it secret.
Also, a woman called Sammy committed suicide, a man called Mr. Evans killed himself because his wife died, and another woman killed herself too. A cop and a dog have started seeing ghosts, and Rusty withholds vital medicine from Rennie to get him to step down.
Well, thats where I am, I can’t tell you how it ends because of course, I haven’t finished it. I think overall it’s a pretty complex book, and it’s definitely long. If you’ve read this book please say so in the comments and tell me what you think.
Why is 'THE' all black?
ResponderBorrarCan everyone see it?
You are right Raven. The word "THE" is in black font so it is nearly impossible to see....
