Last Chapter:
They had been driving for 54 minutes when they finally got to the evacuation building. It was tall and grim. A military camp had once stood there. Now it was all abandoned. They walked up to it and followed signs up to the rooftop. It took a while, since there was no elevator, and since the building was 14 floors high. Then they heard infected break through the glass doors. Only 7 floors up, Sam, Julia, Mia, and the soldiers exchanged glances. “GO!!” one soldier yelled. 3 soldiers ran down the stairs to kill the infected. The others ran up to the roof. Once they got to the roof a S.W.A.T. trooper told them to get in the helicopter. Then the infected reached the roof. The S.W.A.T. trooper was dead within seconds and the infected just kept coming. Julia instinctively grabbed an M14 and killed about 12 before it ran out of bullets. But she just grabbed another one. Mia took a metal tube and smashed open a few of the infecteds’ heads. But more kept coming. Sam protected Ava with his bat. The driver tried to start the helicopter many times to no success. Sam put Ava with the driver and joined the fight. Julia kept killing, Mia kept smashing, and Sam had decided he’d throw infected off the roof. Mia slipped and hit her head on the concrete. When the helicopter finally turned on they took off without a second thought. Only Mia had been left behind.

The ride was long and sad. Mia had not come. Norman kept
trying to tell Ava that Mia was ok. But they all knew she was gone. They landed
on a field by a large building. Kids, parents, grandparents, all were there.
They had survived, but had lost so much. Survival had taken its toll. Sam, Ava,
and Norman walked down the hill.
