Last Chapter:

They had been driving for 54 minutes when they finally got to the evacuation building. It was tall and grim. A military camp had once stood there. Now it was all abandoned. They walked up to it and followed signs up to the rooftop. It took a while, since there was no elevator, and since the building was 14 floors high. Then they heard infected break through the glass doors. Only 7 floors up, Sam, Julia, Mia, and the soldiers exchanged glances. “GO!!” one soldier yelled. 3 soldiers ran down the stairs to kill the infected. The others ran up to the roof. Once they got to the roof a S.W.A.T. trooper told them to get in the helicopter.  Then the infected reached the roof. The S.W.A.T. trooper was dead within seconds and the infected just kept coming. Julia instinctively grabbed an M14 and killed about 12 before it ran out of bullets. But she just grabbed another one. Mia took a metal tube and smashed open a few of the infecteds’ heads. But more kept coming. Sam protected Ava with his bat. The driver tried to start the helicopter many times to no success. Sam put Ava with the driver and joined the fight. Julia kept killing, Mia kept smashing, and Sam had decided he’d throw infected off the roof. Mia slipped and hit her head on the concrete. When the helicopter finally turned on they took off without a second thought. Only Mia had been left behind.

The ride was long and sad. Mia had not come. Norman kept trying to tell Ava that Mia was ok. But they all knew she was gone. They landed on a field by a large building. Kids, parents, grandparents, all were there. They had survived, but had lost so much. Survival had taken its toll. Sam, Ava, and Norman walked down the hill.

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

¨This is a message to all those who have not been infected. I am Jake Lorraine. We are transmitting on all FM frequencies, if you get this message, we are at the 5ft toll outside the city. Please, if there is anyone out there, please. Please-"The message cut off. "That message transmitted every day?" Julia asked. Norman nodded. "Why haven't you gone there?"Sam inquired. ''It's too dangerous out there, we'll be infected." Ava said. Ava was Norman's daughter. She was 12. "But now we can go because we are 5. And we can maybe make it to the evacuation zone" He pointed at the tall building named The Miller Building.  But now a huge banner saying EVACUATION was hung on it.
"So lets get going" Norman said. "But we've only been here 2 days??" Julia said. " And we'll only be alive a few more days if we stay here" he signaled to a gigantic gathering of infected across the city. That was enough to convince all of them.

.     .     .

The ride across the city took almost an hour and 20 minutes, and that wasn't even half way across. It was as long it took until the gas ran out. "Oh fer-" Norman started. He kept trying to make the car run on empty. Then they heard screeches. Infected. "Oh shi- RUN!!" Julia yelled. Norman grabbed his gun, so did Julia, sam got his bat, and Ava got her backpack. They sprinted down the dark tunnel and
guns sounded, blood flew, then Hester tripped. The infected were all over him in a few seconds. more blood, guns, and screams followed. Once they got out of the tunnel they found a car on the street and tried to run it. No  luck. The infected kept coming. Just then a military vehicle pulled up in front of them. A soldier signaled for them to get on. Three men in HAZMAT suits got out and fired M14s at the infected, many fell, but more kept coming. Eventually 2 more HAZMATs came out with shotguns and downed a few more. Finally the infected were all killed. The uninfected all got in and drove away.
